Consultancy

All my life I have had a near-obsessive enthusiasm for all things plants. In recent years this has focused heavily on productive tree crops that are well-suited to the Welsh climate. I have been lucky enough to be able to experiment with many different planting ideas on our ten-acre site and have gained a wealth of first-hand insights into what has worked and what hasn’t. Through my work I have also visited many sites throughout northern Europe and the UK that are practicing agroforestry in one way or another. I continue to offer guidance and support to those considering integrating agroforestry to their land use.
After conducting a site assessment to evaluate the land’s suitability for agroforestry, I can advise on appropriate tree species and crops based on the specific needs and goals of the land and landowner. I can provide recommendations on planting, aftercare and ongoing management to ensure the long-term health and productivity of the system.
I feel strongly that agroforestry can play a crucial role in Welsh agriculture by improving the ecosystem services, biodiversity, productivity and economic viability on farms in line with the Welsh Government plans for new farm subsidies.
